The proximity to the water particularly offers lots of opportunities to take part in water sports.

There are lots of watersports companies who offer skim boarding, waterskiing and surfing lessons. You can get the whole family out on a mastercraft ski boat and get some exercise in while getting a chance to see the waters of the Lynnhaven Bay and Broad Bay. As well as wake board and surfing there is also stand up paddleboard (SUP) lessons and tours. Kayaks are available to hire in the Lynnhaven inlet and Sandbridge areas.

Parasail and Jet Ski – At Rudee’s Inlet you can rent jet skis or go parasailing.

Lynnhaven Dive Center – Take snorkeling or scuba lessons, and charter a diving trip to see the “graveyard of the Atlantic.”

Merchants Millpond in North Carolina is not far away and offers great value kayaking.

Back Bay Wildlife Refuge  – is where you can find peace among Loggerhead turtles, Snow and Canada Geese, Bald Eagles, Piping Plovers, Peregrine Falcons.  Here is a place for hiking, biking, canoeing, and fishing.

You can hire bikes, beach cruisers and rollerblades from multiple locations on the Ocean front and cycle along the dedicated bike track.

Rock Gym – A rock wall, rappel tower, and boulders will test your skills at rock climbing.  Reduced rates are sometimes available for college students, military, and families.

West Virginia has a lively rock climbing community. West Virginia is among the most highly rated climbing destinations in the East. Thousands of rock climbing areas — including Seneca Rocks and the New River Gorge — feature stunning scenery and challenging sports and traditional rock climbs.
