Texting and Driving

PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!!!! As of July 1, 2013 a number of major law changes took effect in the State of Virginia.

Amongst these the one most likely to impact on us relates to texting and driving. Texting and driving will now be considered a primary offense which means that even if it is the only violation that is observed, you can be pulled over.

Why is this an issue?

Because now if they pull you over for texting and driving and there is another violation which “wasn’t your fault” (maybe swerving because you were slow to see a dog on the road or speeding because you didn’t notice the sign) you can be charged with Reckless Driving.

Anyone at anytime can be charged for Reckless Driving based on the Police Officer’s discretion. Please take this seriously because the charge would be considered as a class one misdemeanor which entails a fine up to $2500 and jail time of up to one year.

Being in possession of a UK license will not get you off !
