Fancy losing some weight and getting fit before Easter and eating all those eggs?
As part of the RAF100 Celebration day, the organisers are planning to run a 100km charity cycle ride to raise money for donation to the official RAF100 charities. The plan is for the ride to take place during the morning of Saturday 14 Apr 18 and for the finish to coincide with the start of the main RAF100 Celebration event at the Pungo Military Aviation Museum. Further details are as follows:
Route: Starting and finishing at the Museum, the route will comprise 100km of relatively flat terrain along minor roads. All main highways will be avoided.
Time: Aiming to commence at 0700L and to cross the finish line at 1200L (i.e. 5 hrs at an average pace of 12 mph – should be a breeze – unless there’s one blowing in our face!!)
Number: Limited to 12 riders. The aim will be to ride as a group. Although we will plan to run a number of training rides beforehand for those that wish to participate, the route follows mostly quiet country lanes and is aimed at intermediate/experienced cyclists with a level of fitness and ability to match.
Equipment: Riders will be expected to provide their own suitable road bike (or alternative if you are a seasoned rider and happy with the planned pace?). It is planned that a team shirt will be issued to each participant.
Further details will be provided in due course and we currently have 6 riders signed up who have been involved in the initial planning stages (RAF and RN). Therefore, we are currently looking for another 6 riders who are interested in participating in this event. We will also be looking for 1-2 volunteers to drive a support vehicle.
If you would like to participate in this event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by COP Wed 14 Feb 18. All responses will be treated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
The Coffee Morning this month will be held at the home of
On Friday 23rd February 2018 from 10am
This months’ Coffee Morning will be slightly different, in that we have a ‘Speaker’ from the Norfolk Sister City Association (see paragraph below) who will give a short presentation, leaving plenty of time for coffee and chatting!
The Norfolk Sister City Association was founded in 1976. Although we are partially funded by the city, we are not a Department. NSCA is a member of Sister Cities International, based in Washington DC.
We are a non-profit civic organization dedicated to fostering international understanding, friendship & cooperation through people to people exchanges & continuing relationships between Norfolk, VA & her 9 Sister Cities.
Along with Norfolk Co, UK, we are connected to Kitakyushu, Japan; Wilhelmshaven, Germany; Toulon, France; Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada; Cagayan de Oro, Phillipines; Kochi, India and Tema, Ghana.
Our purpose is to be a catalyst for linking counterpart organizations in Norfolk and its Sister Cities. We wish to enable them to conduct their exchanges of mutual interest. NSCA , actively participates each year in the NATO Festival.
Please come along and join us for an informal chat over a cup of coffee. We look forward to seeing you all there.
If you would like directions, please email Katie at: email@example.com
ALL ARE WELCOME!!

Help Celebrate the Royal Air Force Centenary by purchasing the
100 years, 100 Countries, 100 Recipes
On 1 April 2018, the RAF celebrates the completion of its first century. We have been given a wonderful opportunity to purchase copies of this beautiful and unique book which could be a fabulous present (not many more workdays until Christmas folks) for those that have an interest in food and history. These wonderful recipes and amazing insights have been pulled together from RAF serving men and women, veterans, friends and family and industry colleagues, and offers a truly global view of the 100 years currently served since the RAF’s formation.
The book is $30
All proceeds will go to the RAF100 appeal
a joint venture between the Royal Air Force and 4 major Royal Air Force charities:
the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF Museum, the RAF Charitable Trust and the RAF Association
The aim of the appeal is to raise money for the RAF Family and to create a lasting legacy as the RAF celebrates its centenary.
